The Commercial Project: Hearts and Home Transformation
One of the standout projects we’ve worked on recently was at a commercial space called Hearts and Home. When we first got to the building, it was covered in carpet—a flooring choice that, while soft, was difficult to maintain. We hear this a lot: “The carpet is impossible to clean!” It collects dust, stains, and just doesn’t hold up well over time, especially in high-traffic areas. So, we came in, pulled out all that old carpet, and got to work transforming the concrete beneath it into something durable and easy to clean.
The Flooring Process: Step-by-Step
Our process starts with some serious prep work. After removing the carpet, we grind down the concrete to remove the top layer. This ensures that our new coating bonds tightly with the concrete, giving it strength and longevity.
Once the surface is prepped, we apply a moisture vapor barrier (MVB). This is essential for preventing moisture from coming up through the floor, which could cause issues later on. The MVB is an amine-converted epoxy, and it does a fantastic job of sealing the floor against moisture.
After that, we apply our polyurea flake coating, which gives the floor a sleek, attractive look while adding durability. Once it cures, we finish it off with a clear coat that includes an anti-slip agent. This makes the floor safe to walk on, even in wet conditions, and easy to maintain—no more worrying about stains or damage!
